Ouranoupolis
A
l'exacte limite du Mont Athos, se dresse une ancienne tour. Il s'agit
d'un bâtiment civil construit au 14ème siècle par
le monastère de Vatopédi pour la protection de ses
domaines dans la région. La tradition veut que cette tour ait
été construite par l'empereur Andronic II (1282-1328) qui
finança plusieurs projets au Mont Athos.

Ouranoupolis
On
the very border of Mount Athos, stands a fortified ancient tower. It is
a large monumental civilian structure and was built in the 14th century
by the monastery of Vatopedi, for the protection of its estate in this
area. Tradition says the tower was built by the Emperor Andronicos II
(1282-1328) who financed many projects in Mount Athos.
