Haithabu
Le
Danewerk était une levée de terre haute de 4 à 6
mètres érigée antre le 8ème et le
10ème siècle par le Danois pour se protéger des
Francs. Elle s'étendait de la mer du Nord jusqu'à
Haithabu, sur les rives de la Baltique, séparant ainsi le
Jutland des marches septentrionales de l'Empire franc.

The
Danewerk was a wall between 4 and 6 meters in height built between the
8th and 10th by the Danes to protect themselves from the Franks. It
stretched from the North Sea to Haithabu on the Baltic shore,
separating the Jutland Peninsula from the northern extent of the
Frankish empire.
